TCP Panel (part 2) Tutorial
This tutorial creates the pastoral creek scene insert for the panel from Tutorial 1.
In some cases, I don't remember what presets and/or changes I made to them to get the exact effects you see above. The ones listed should provide close approximations.
This tutorial requires a copy of BladePro and the following:
- Clumps Example preset from Flaming Pear's texture package 1
- The webdings font
- A tree clipart image
NOTE: This tutorial was created with Paint Shop Pro version 5, so if you have a later version, the look and operation of the dialogs may/will be different. If you use Photoshop or other paint program, you should be able to follow allong and make adjustments as needed.
| 1) Start out by creating a new image, 165x135, white background, 16 million colors. |
| 2) Set colors to forground=black, background=white. |
| 3) Click on the Text tool and click in the middle of the image. In the text dialog, select
the webdings font. Enter a capital P for the text and manually enter a size of 124. Antialias and
Floating=checked. Click OK. |
| 4) Move the character until the bottom and sides match the bottom and sides of the
image frame. Don't worry if you cut off the top of the tree. |
| 5) Click on the Selection tool. Set it to Rectangle, Feather=0,
Antialias=unchecked. Use it to select around the tree and press Del. |
| 6) Click the Line tool and set Width=1, Line Type=Normal, Antialias= unchecked.
Draw a line between the two banks at the horizon. |
| 7) Click on the Magic Wand tool. Click on the river banks to select them. Press
Del. Apply the nacre Blade Pro preset, changing the Height to 0 before applying. |
| 8) Using the Magic Wand, select the river and apply my
tcp007 preset. |
| 9) Using the Magic Wand, select the sky. Set the forground to a dark blue and the background to a light blue. Select the Flood Fill tool, then set Fill Style=Linear Gradiant, Match Value= RGB, Tolerance=0, Opacity=100, Sample Merged=unchecked. In Options, Blend Mode=Normal, Direction=180. Then, click in the selected section to create the sundown sky. |
| 10) Create a new blank image, size 70x70, background=white. Insert your tree image and center it. |
| 11) Using the Magic Wand, click on the white background. Select Selections/Modify/Select Similar,
then Selections/Invert to select the tree. Press Del. Apply the clumps example preset. Another interesting one to use for this is the branches example preset which is in Flaming Pair's texture package 2. |
| 12) With the tree still selected, press Ctrl-Ins to copy it, select the main image, press Ctrl-e to paste in the tree, and position it on the horizon. |
| 13) Select and copy the entire image, and paste it into the frame you created in Tutorial 1. |
